Our future when we love sport

In some months I should decide my future. Go to university is one chance I have ever wished. I have always been quite sure that I wanted to become an engineer. But now the moment is coming and I'm a little bit afraid, I will be an engineer? Is what I want? And the answer always is the same: I don't know. The only way to discover it is trying it. I have been playing tennis for many years it would be a shame to give up right now. Spain universities don't offer the possibility to follow both ways, you have to choose. But last year, recommended by a tennis friend, I decided to go to study abroad, where I have the opportunity to keep playing tennis and I can approach my tennis level to achieve a scholarship. It's a big opportunity to have two ways to earn money. Adding to that, I will learn another language, and not any, the current most international recognized one. I have to say that I'm just looking to nice part, once there I will have to earn good marks to keep the academic scholarship, I will have to train really hard and achieve good results, it will take a lot of time and I also want to enjoy the university. So it might be harder to if would study here but I think it's what I must do.

Asiatic industry has sunk Spanish industry

Every day all of us are surrounded by thousands of Chinese, Indian, Taiwnese... stuff. Is very difficult to find national products in all directions: electronic devices, clothes, decoration... Most of the items we need are produced in underdeveloped areas. The low cost of production in those countries have moved most of our industry to import and produce there. It causes unemployment and a hard competition with the local shops. But the issue is the result of our acts. In fact, at least me, I don't have brought my industry to China. It has done it rich and powerful people. But, nowadays, they are even richer than before, while there are many closed shops and the biggest taxes of unemployment. I also have to admit that our fault is to buy always the cheapest item in the shop, forgetting their provenance. Now, my question is: has it been a good bet to look only for low cost products? And the answer is: not, definitely it hasn't been a good decision. But it's just our fault? We could choose? We CAN choose? Or society said consume! and we just consumed? There are a lot of ethic questions to do about this topic. I fear I have a limited knowledge to speak about this topic so I am going to let the questions at the air, to make you reflect.

Cruelty towards bulls

It can seem archaic but nowadays in the 21st century, we are still allowing violence and crimes against animals. For instance, Catalonia's government has prohibited bullfights, but they are still allowed in the rest of Spain. Some people see this "show", specifically "carnage", as an art but, in my opinion, it's anything else than a combination between cruelty and desire to kill. The worst is that people, like you and like me, support this. They enjoy watching who a murder with a sword fights against an defenseless animal. My question is: Why? EVERYBODY knows who is going to win. Do they want to see an exciting "game"? Okay, so give one sword and the same intelligence to the bull. After the bullfighter kills the poor animal, plenty of blood, he cuts his nail and ears. 

I really wish the prohibition of bullfights. It's a shame that Spain is identified with this carnage. These shows are similar to the roman's fights, two thousand years ago....

This song is in Spanish but, from my point of view, it descrives very well my opinion. I must add that I'm not alone thinking we must report bullfights, there is a lot of people who think the same.

How succes affect people behaviour?

Nowadays we watch almost every day on TV how people (singers, athletics, actors...) become famous and even more rich in a short time. They earn amazing amounts of money while they are adults but in some cases they are teenagers. How can they manage to keep on with their life's styles, their friends, their family... 

I think that in many cases society spoil them. Our curiosity brings the press to burst their lives constantly and sometimes it's published false information. Why they get married and divorce so many times? What's love for famous people, is it the same than for us? It seems that they only want even more money trough exclusives. It can cause a wheel where they can't escape. There are famous who manage carefully their success and try to live normal in private places. On the other hand we have famous people that enjoy too much of their richness but it will just causes them problems.

Violence

Violence... A much discussed topic. For example Hobbes said that human race is bad until their born while Locke thought that we are good people when we born but the society corrupt us. I don't know who was right but it's a fact that there are wars, battles, fights, arguments... Violence. I've never fought against another person but I've seen a lot of fights. When I see two persons fighting I feel really strange, between nervous and afraid. There is a little part of me that says "close your eyes right now" but there is another one that forces me to watch the show. I suppose that I feel like that because I don't know the end, that's why I'm afraid. I consider important damages on the fighters and I don't want that. I have only view students battles and some adult fights which are really amazing. 

I think it's a stupid way to show your disaprovement to the people. My father always says: "In a battle you can ONLY lose, there isn't any chance to win, even if you hit harder". 

Electronic devices

There is a topic that nowadays we hear many times: a strong addiction to electronic devices. Is it true? The society can't live without them? Nobody has the certain answer. I'm a teenager, so I can just give my humble opinion.

Everybody has to admit that the mobile phone is very useful for many of us, we need the phone because without it we can't work, we can't communicate as well as now, we can't do several sorts of things... So it's true that we need it and consequently most of us use it a lot of time. But we can't consider it an addiction, is sleeping an addiction? Is food an addiction? I don't think so, when we think  on an addiction we are thinking on the extreme of everything. 

All in all we can find one addicted to electronic devices considering these things: It can causes health problems? He/she avoid any of his/her responsibilities to play any electronic games? He/she prefers the electronic way to express herself/himself than the personal one?. If any of these questions is positive you can have a problem with nowadays' technologies.

Next year: eighteen years old.

When I think that next year in September I will be 18 years old many thoughts come to my mind. I'm glad because I will be able to take my driving license. When I was sixteen many friends had their own motorbike, but I couldn't because my parents wouldn't. So I have had the obligation to go everywhere with them. But next year... The things will change. A car is like a freedom passport, you can go anywhere you want. The only problem will be the car, in my family we are three (without counting the dog) and there are only two cars. I'll have to share one. Well, firstly I have to pass two exams, a theoretical one and a practical one, the first one doesn't worry me as much as the second one.

The second advantage is that I will be able to vote, and you feel that you fit in the society. Other thing to consider is that I will be able to go to jail, that's maybe disadvantage, but I'm not a troublemaker, I don't feel worried about this. If there isn't a turn for the worst this year I'll finish high school and that's a big change in my routine, because  I have been here for six years, waking up very early every morning and going to sleep late at night.

I have found the song of the year! That's it: "elysium", "honor him" and "now we are free". What do you feel when you hear them? freedom indeed. When we hear these songs automatically the first thought in our brain is the moving movie "Gladiator"; Russell Crowe played the leading role in an outstanding plot. Where a brave soldier, called Hispano, got the opportunity to be Cesar but he refused it because he was missing his family. Cesar's son wasn't able to be the main representative in the glorious empire of the moment, so he tried to kill the soldier but he couldn't so then he murdered Hispano's family. The poor man's life lost all his purpose, he had fought all this time just to meet another time his wife and his son, but he couldn't. He was taken by slave's traffickers and he survived, nothing else, only be alive. Since he recovered the desire to live: to murder his dear's murder. He fought as a slave and he won like a champion, he kept fighting to meet his challenge, instead of being hard, instead of being difficult, instead of his body injuries. Finally he could kill the son's Cesar, he didn't get a wood's sword with his freedom, he got a better prize, the freedom of his own soul. After all this time he could return with his family in his beautiful home place. 

Let me return to the songs, I don't know what my classmates feel this year but when we finish this course we will be as the soldier, free, our ways will be different. That's a bit what happens with the slaves in the film.  The first song "Elysium" when we can see in the video is preparation for the battle where you have to train very hard to be able to win the battle. As the movie shows the way will be long and not easy at all but it's necessary. You will have a hundred temptations to give up but you must keep fighting. In our case this way is obviously studying and doing our homework every day. Then the second song represents the fight in our case selectivity, the first important test in our young lives, it will mark us in a positive or negative way... Finally the last song, "we are free", easy to see the similarity, we are free!

So, I definetly have found the songs of second, but I don't want to finish like the soldier, I want to get the freedom but then I want to approach it.  

Documentary

In class we watched an  interesting documentary that made a little sumary of the evolution of the earth and the effects that the humans have caused to it. We are more dangerous than any other specie, we have wiped out a lot of other types of animals and we are going to a near autodestruction of the human race. The documentary which is very powerful shows us how much important has been the use of fuel, it has increased the velocity of the climate change and much changes.

 Their images were really amazing, taken from all arround the world. I haven't seen this video before I hadn't hear of it too. I think that it should be interesting that it could be seen for everybody because that's an important topic that we must respect. However the fuel will run out nearer than we think so we should develope a new ecologic technology. 

Humans have to admit and recognize that we can't do whatever we want without consequences, we also must learn that we aren't alone on the earth and we can't manipulate the nature like our own body, the earth is a place where much animal live on and we must understand that as soon as posible.  

Strange moments in the high school

I have thought that it should be interesting that I explain a funny story that happened to me few years ago... I will keep some names in the mystery because I have to study one more year in the center and I don't want to be involved in any problem.

One friend and me were always going to the school library to play a stupid football game, almost every day, we only were there at last five minutes but one day the "library's teacher" (as you probably know is a bit hard with the students),  came to us and she started to shout very loud. She asked us what were we doing and we only could answer that we were doing a project for the history teacher about the epic football teams. We had to lie but for a good reason. We stopped going to the library and we were very frightened, during a pair of weeks, of the history teacher. He didn't say nothing so all went perfectly. 
I have other funny stories like when I arrived twenty minutes late to the english class, because my friend didn't go to school this day... 
And... when I was near to recive an expultion because I forgot to advice a substitute teacher...
I'm so shy so I try to pass undetected in all the classes where I go but always happen such things to me.

Harry potter

Harry potter

The last film  I have seen is the last film of Harry potter, it has been published months ago, I'm a fan of their films. I think that they are very imaginative and emotional at the same time. I own all his films. I started watching it when I was just a child. All the characters in the film have changed a lot, like me, so I am always watching guys a bit older than me (we have grown together), for that reason I think it's a good film for our generation, we feel a bit identifiied with them despite of being (maggles). My family is also a fan of them, when we can we put together at the living room and we see it. We have other favorite films, the important thing is that we can relax for one day in the week. 

In the last film is when harry's history finishes with the dead of his enemy. It's the best film of his seven ones, because it contains action and we can solve some mysteries that the director gave to us in the other films. 

If the make another film I will see it in the cinema as all the others ones but I think that Harry has ran out of the screen.

First exam

First exam

Yesterday I did the first certificate exam in Figueres. I go twice a week to private classes with a few friends. One month ago they told to us if we would take the exam, but we thought that it was too much early and we weren't enough prepared, so we decided that we wouldn't take the exam. But when I arrived at home my mother said that she had resgistered me in the exam. I explained her what has happened but it was too late to change our decision. So yesterday I went alone to the exam, I have to say that I was a bit nervous. The first test I had to do was the reading one, it wasn't difficult but in the last part I hadn't time to finish it well so I put some answers without thought them enought. The second test was the writing's one, I had to compose an e-mail and a formal letter. The second term letter's classes were very useful. The third control I had to pass was "use of english". There was a difficult text that you had to complete with some words they gave to you, then the other parts of the control were easy I think. The listening was the last writen part and it was very confusing. My worst test was the speaking one because I put myself very nervous and I couldn't think and speak very well until we had to describe photos,  then I could speak without looking the interviewer's face and I got more relax.

They will give my mark on July so I hope that I have get more than a sixty per cent... 

Miami

Miami

A journey which I always being thinking on is to go to Miami. Since I was a boy I heart good thinks about it. My parents  had shown  me their  honey   moon travel. They went to Miami and others cities. But it was their favorite one. They had explained me how wonderful and powerful it was. To walk on  the streets in the middle  of  the  huge skyscrapers, the  impression  they  caused, and also  the  feeling  of inferiority  walking  among  them.  The  typical  American  movie, with funny people you could directly saw there. They also  explain  me  so  many good experiences they had.

I also want to travel there  because  I want enjoy   with their  peaceful  beaches,  a  place  like  Hawaii but not as popular as this one, for example Miami. If I have the oppurtunity I would like   to go there without my family. I  think it will be very interesting go there with my friends without any control, but I think that it will very difficuld and expensive at the same time.

Achievements of this year

This month of may has been very good for our tennis club. I play "aerodrom's tennis club". This year we arrived to the absolute province final in the category of gold and after a very emoting final we won. We played five individual matches and two doubles against Banyoles' team, after being winners against Lloret and Girona. 

We won two individual ones and they three, so we needed two doubles to win. After being playing during all the morning we won one double. I was playing with my coach. We played in the last match, it was decisive. We were winning 6/2 but we lost the second set 4/6 and then we became nervous but thanks our supporters we won the thirst set 6/3 after playing during almost three hours. Our tennis friends jumped to the court congratulating us. It was very emotive. We were very happy because we played in their court so there were more rivals supporters shouting but we could be the province championship. Finally one friend put me into the bath and I finish very wet, but it didn't matter, we had win the final.

This year I have won the single junior provincial too. It was more difficult and important than the team's one but it wasn't as funny as with my tennis friends.

I remember perfectly that day, it was a Sunday I think. I was just five years old and I was in the cinema with my parents. I saw it in the television that it was in front of me, I said it to my parents but the didn't realized me, they just said " jaja, it is a film, it can't be possible". But then they turned their heads and the saw that it wasn't a film, it was happening. I felt very bad for that fact. Then I was too little to think about the damaged New Yorker's life but it caused me a bad feeling see most of the people on the television crying. The news was in it for several weeks, explaining all the facts and effects.

Nowadays I can be conscious how important it was, and how many people died that day doing nothing wrong. My parents had been there only two years ago the towers fallen down. They have explained to me that it was the highest thing they had seen, and, I can remember very well, that they had promised to me that if I was good student they would have brought me to see them

.

At present is easy and cheap to travell anywhere. Prices have been reduced in last years. The fight between companies have advantatged customers. Fly by low cost is ver practical for us. Now is posible to pay a visit to any european capital for weekends or few days. Years ago there were less travels but they least longer because the flies were more expensive than nowadays. But it was only able for few people because normal people couldn't affort it. Nowadays is very useful to desconect from the rutine and visit some city or relax in hotel. 

Rayanair was the first flying company to introduce low cost flights. You could visit London or any other city nearly for the price of a meal. The same opportunity for foreign people, then tourism came to Spain, it was easy to arrive at Barcelona and Girona for few money. This was a great thing to increase benefits for hotels, restaurants and shops. 

Now perhaps there are less people travelling because of the crisis, but the people still traveling. Almost to spend free time with the family.

Healthy life

Healthy life

Nowadays people try to get a healthy life, we are more concious about our health and what bad habits can cause. We practice sport regularly for example riding a bike, running or going on foot to the places. Also we eat nonfat meals and we try to avoid fast food restaurants. We try to buy healthier food at the supermarkets too. The education begins when we are very young, at school they explain to us how to eat an how to have a healthy life. Mothers use to prepare sandwiches rather than biscuits or greasy thinks. A study explain that mothers who works, they managed to prepare more healthy meals (breakfast for school) than other ones who doesn't. I think it's very important to practice sport, in my case tennis, because you socialize and you get fit. I also try to eat all the meals trying to change the sort of foot I eat. However the eat and the sport are not all the things that determinates a healthy life because there are smokers that they cause themselves healthy problems and drinkers that they put their life at the limit. 

But in the other side now is more difficult to eat vegetables and fruits than thirty or forty years ago baecause all we eat is more manipulated (less natural). The best option are ecological products but at the moment they are too much expensive.

University

I'm thinking about what I'll study in the university. It's a very difficult decision because we know that it's important to choose a career that you feel comfortable and it has future. Nowadays it's very difficult to choose a job with workplaces. Last week came to IES Castelló d'Empùries two university teachers to explain to us how was the UAB. They said that it's very important to have a degree from another country, for example USA, because this degree is something that makes the difference with the current people. And if we are current people we won't get a job. So it's important to go out and study in other languages. They also recommend to study here a good career and only do a master outside. Because our careers are good recompensed in other countries.


I would like to study any career focused on technology or mathematics. I haven't got any problem to go to another country to study, it's my future, and I can sacrifice some years t get a job. The price is important because I can't pay too much for a career. And if I go outland to study I have to get a scholarship probably coming from tennis, then I could study a career and play tennis for the team of the University because pay the apartment, the food, the degree and other things it's impossible without a job, and if I'm studying it's very difficult to do both things.

Eurovegas

The  most important casino in Europe will be build in Madrid and that's a good and a bad notice at the same time. If the casino had been build in Barcelona we had got a lot of workplaces and a lot of money from the Eurovegas casino but we had to change our laws because it could be legal. I have ever been in a casino because I'm not old enough  but I think that the ambient isn't the best, there are many people addicted to the game. This type of installations uses to attract a lot of people.
Catalan farmers are against the project because they don't want to lose their fields for the building of a casino. It's an extremely expensive project so the president is one of the richest man in the world. He visited Barcelona and Madrid to analyse the better option and finally he decided Madrid maybe because it's the capital of Spain and there are more population in the city, but in Barcelona we have the coast and a lot of tourism. 
The building is really big and amazing for everybody. The structure of the casino is very particular and very luxurious. The casino needs energy and good conditions (water, gas....).

Research project

We are students of sixteen years old and we must do an extensive project talking about some topic. First, I had no idea, only I would do something related about technology or physics. When the teachers show us the options I decided to study the energetic system of the high school but my technology teacher told me that the project was an error and I couldn't do it. So I made a propose also related on this. First I thought in a sustainable house but it wasn't original and I added some automatic systems to create an automatic sustainable house. But the automatic elements are very expensive so I will try to reduce the cost of them  doing it available for us. I made the propose but they haven't except it yet, but my technology teacher said that it was a good project and maybe they should accept it.  

I don't know if I will have many problems doing it, and I don't Know what I'll do in the practice part. This project is to prepare us for the future and the mark of the project is very important so we will work hardly. Last year we did a similar project but it was in groups, I did with Eloi and Pau about the skydive of Empuriabrava but we didn't get a good mark because we started too  late and we didn't work very hard.
