What's in a name? 

My town

Castelló d'Empúries is a little village in a beautiful province. It has a fantastic very old and big church. There aren't many habitants. In the middle of Castelló there is the town hall. We have a library, a hight school, restaurants, sports centre... Empuriabrava is a big part of Castelló. It has beaches and lots of pubs. Every summer Empùriabrava attracts many tourists (about seventy thousand) of all the nationalities, before it used to be plenty of german people but now are visiting us more french people and it starts coming russian people. 

I always have lived here. I live in the outland of Castelló and it's very peaceful and I have very good views. We have all the services we need but there aren't many clothes shops, so we must go to Figueres or Roses for shopping. We have a big extension of wetlands with lots of vegetation and animals.

There are roads from Figueres, Roses, St.Pere, Llança... so we are good communicated with the other villages. If we have any emergency we have an hospital in Figueres. We can see the Pyrinees and the sea. 

I think that Castelló d'Empúries is a good place to live with your family. I would like to live here when I get married and become old.

Costa Brava

Costa Brava is the coast of Catalonia. It is very pretty with peaceful beaches. We live very near of that coast so we don't appreciate as much as we should do it. It's an advantage to live near the sea because the weather  is better than in the inland areas. 

There are lots of fishing villages, they normally are very beautiful and the people who live there knows the sea like his own hand. This villages are very touristic because in summer this beaches are paradises for some people. Probably the most famous fishing village is Cadaqués, it's amazing and his views are incredible. All the village is white and delightfully old. The best catalan painter had lived in Cadaqués for few years. 

Our problem is the massive building near the coast, there are many hotels in front of the sea. It is destroying our views. Sometimes, when I was a child I used to go fishing with a little boat in Llança, with a friend. We knew a little secret bay, it always was lonely and sometimes we slept on it in a tent. Our coast it's special and beautiful so we must take care of it and didn't build more buildings on it.

My future

I would like to be engineer in the future. It's difficult but it's the best subject for me because I enjoy doing technology or mathematics. My father is engineer and he is working in a factory in Girona. The situation in Spain is very hard so probably I will have to leave Spain and find a job in another country. But while I'm studying I only I will try to get good marks and enjoy of my hobby (playing tennis).

If I get all I want, I will have two options, the first one is go to the Barcelona's university and rent a flat with friends near the university. The other option is get a grant to study in United States. I need a good tennis level and be one of the best 300 players in Spain. Now I'm the 518 in the national ranking. So I have two years for improve my ranking, I think is possible but I must be more than 300 because I'll get a better grant. The most important thing I have to improve is my English level. Normally in the US I'll play tennis in the university team at weekends versus other universities. I have a friend who  is doing that, he said that it's very hard but it's also an amazing experience. Probably I will study in the Barcelona's university but I want to have the other option to choose.

That's what I want to do but I can't say nothing because is very difficult to decide my future, I must study hard in baccalaureate and get good marks.

My last summer

This summer I played almost every day at tennis. I got bad results and my parents weren't very happy with me. I went to France twice a week more or less, because France's system is better than Spain's one. 

I went by ship many times with my tennis friends. I did kit-surfing but I'm really bad. I went to the beach, we did volleyball matches  and football matches. Typical summer activities. Sometimes I went to the cinema but I couldn't went lots of times because is very expensive. I helped my mother in her shop and in the house too.

My night-life wasn't good because if the next day I had a tennis match it was impossible to go late to bed. So I only could go out at the weekend if the next I hadn't any tennis match. I used to go to Empuriabrava's pubs and sometimes to Passarella's disco.  

I did two little trips, both of them to played tennis. One in Asturies and the other one in Clemond Ferrand (France). The first one in Oviedo I stayed one week in a friend's house, all was free and I take advantage for visiting the zone. But the weather was bad. I enjoyed it very much because I met my friend's family. The trip I have done this summer was to Clemond Ferrand. I went with my tennis group. We stayed there one week. We played an ITF tournament and we also take advantage for visiting the city.

My summer wasn't bored at all because I didn't work and I did my hobby every day.

My last holidays

Last year I travelled to Italy by plane, my course and I had prepared that travel for a long time. We had sold flowers, books, cakes... So while we were travelling we were very excited and a little nervous. The first day we arrived to the Florence's airport, we were received  by a music group. We caught the bus from Florence to Pisa. When we arrived we were tired but also happy because we were in Pisa, and we could see its famous tower. It was incredible. 

The second day we returned to Florence by bus to pay a visit to all the monuments. Maybe it was the best day, because we were very surprised. The Italian's buildings were very hight and also powerful for the giant white rocks. We stayed all day in the city and we had free time to buy some presents for our families. 

The third day we visit Sienna in the morning, It was like a film. Toscana was very peaceful, and in the middle of Sienna there was an amazing square, we had lunch on it. At the afternoon we went to Rome. The capital of Italy. It was like Florence but more commercial and modern than the other city. But it was very good and we enjoyed a lot our free time. There were hundreds and hundreds of shops. 

The last day we stayed in Rome during the morning, We visited all the important places. And at lunch time we caught the bus and we went to a port. In it we caught the boat to returned to Spain. It was enormous and luxurious. We stayed there one day and I must confess that I felt so dizzy.

FIN

Fin is the last book I have read, it's a Spanish book and very early they will make a film. We read this book in the school, and we did an exam. 

There are a group of nine adults (infancy friends) lost in an isolated castle in a strange village. Anybody lived in this village. At night there was a blackout. First they think that it wasn't important and continued with their adventure. The next day anything worked and Rafa, one character had disappeared during the night. They searched him and after that they went to a little town to ask for help. While they were walking other person disappeared. They didn't understand anything. They follow one road until they arrived in a lonely village, there, they changed their clothes and ate all they want. Some of them disappeared and other ones had been foot for animals. Finally only two persons were alive, they lived some adventures but finally one of them also disappeared. The last girl was alone in a lonely world. And that was the end.

I don't like this book because is really strange. We read 300 pages but we don't know nothing. We don't know the reason of the disappearances, we don't know any of one character, we don't know what will do the last girl  in the future, alone in the world with only animals. The plot is good I think, because we have interest in the history, and the writer explain very good every situation. But there is a disaster, it's completely open. I expect that the film has a little different  final.

I'm looking forward to see you! I will show you my dog (Duc), my house and my town when you arrive. I saw your e-mail last Saturday but I couldn't answer it until now because I have had homework and a lot of exams. You will arrive to Madrid's airport, there you can call me if you want to but at five o'clock I'll be playing a tennis match. So you can send me a text message and I'll answer you as soon as possible. Have you ever been in Spain? Can you speak with Spanish people? 

My house is very far from Madrid's airport so you will have to catch a train to Barcelona, it's easy and very fast. Probably it will be a large travel so you can bring here any mobile or MP3 and something to eat. In Barcelona (Sants station) you will have breakfast (if you want to) because probably you will be very hungry. The next train to Figueres leaves at 10 p.m so you will have two hours to visit Barcelona. I recommend you to bring a map because Barcelona is a really big city. There many beautiful places like "Sagrada familia", Güell's park and Barça's stadium. At 10 p.m you'll must return to Sants station. The travel to Alt Empordà's capital will take two hours. In Figueres you must catch a bus from Figueres to Castelló. The bus station is near the train station. You only have to cross a little square. At 12 p.m I will take you to the church OK? It's in the middle of the town. 

Spain isn't like England, you must keep your money in a safe place.  Have I answer all your questions? I have a little surprise to you. I expect that have a nice travel from London to here. We will do lots of funny activities.

Spain regions: Catalonia to vote in key elections

The Spanish region of Catalonia is holding important regional elections, after a campaign that has focused on the issue of independence. Artur Mas has called an anticipated general elections because he thinks that Catalonia needs more decision's power and be more respected. He would like the same conditions as Spain because we are paying every year millions of euros. But there many problems and Mas needs absolute majority. There are other candidates with different ideas and with different objectives (PP, PSC, ERC, ICV...). Maybe the independence isn't the most important topic, because there much people without any job and some of them without house. I think that they must work together to get more power and can bring Catalonia to a better future. But this elections are very important for our future and for the future generations.

If Mas get the absolute majority (it's very difficult), he want to hold a referendum where the region should break away from the rest of Spain. Rajoy (actual Spain's president) probably will not allow the referendum like Scotland. If we get the independence probably we won't be able to be a member of the UE. Artur says the wealthy and influential north-eastern region gets a raw funding deal from the central government, and his centre-right Catalan Nationalist Coalition (CiU) will be hoping for a majority in the regional parliament. I think I'll be too much difficult to enter to the UE but Mas and other independent candidates say yes. We will see which results get each candidate and his/her actions for the future of this nation.

Barack Obama

He was born in Hawaii and he studied in Columbian University and Harvard Law School. 

He had been president from 2008 to 2012. He was the first black  president of US. He dethrone Jorge Bush and on his mandate he made office places and killed the first USA enemy (Osama Bin Laden). In my opinion he is a good president because he defended the peace in Iraq but I can't say nothing because I didn't know his policy.  

On April 4, 2011, Obama announced his re-election campaign for 2012 in a video titled "It Begins with Us". During a long time he did his campaign and he past for most states, always defending his thoughts and explaining his projects (retire US troops from Iraq, closing Guantanamo Bay detention camp, improving the economy system....). Important people like Clinton helped him speaking in some meetings. All was important to got some votes.

The elections were very equalled between Obama and Romney, until the last day we couldn't know who would be the next president of United States. There were newspapers that said that the winner would be Romney and other ones Obama.  

The current president Barack Obama has been re-elected for a second time as president of the United States, beating his rival, Republican Mitt Romney. Obama got 332 votes while Romney only got 206 votes. 

His personality helped him to get some votes. He is loyal and confident to USA so the people gave their votes.

Gagnam style becomes Youtube's most viewed video.

This song has more than 808 M views since July until now. It's a north Korean dance and song by the PSY group. It's very funny and probably the most attracting thing they have use is a funny and repetitive dance. So the other people use to imitate him. In it, Gagnam dances as though he is riding on a horse and spinning a lasso in a manner that crowds follow his particular way of dancing.

His key factor was that the song got famous very quickly and a lot of radios make publicity of him and his dance, many discos put his song . Also there were lots of people that imitate Gagnam dancing in strange places, then they had recorded it and they had sent the video to a TV programme.

Gangnam Style, which won best video at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, has also been number one in 28 countries.

It holds the Guinness World Record for the most "liked" song ever - currently with a little under 5.4m likes on YouTube.

I think that it's very funny and all my family has seen the video. It's for all public and different likes. There is an amazing video on youtube, in it we can see millions of North Korean persons dancing and singing the song. It's in a crazy PSY concert. I don't think that is the best song in the history because it's very commercial because he doesn't speak about nothing, he only put a repetitive music and a funny dance. He is lucky I think, because probably he doesn't expect be the most viewed song in the history.
I would like that the best song was a rebel song which fights against any injustice.

MY ORAL PRESENTATION

Good morning everybody other time.

In my presentation I will explain my tennis career, my tennis style and my tennis objectives. There are some shots that I would like to control in the future

My tennis career

When I was five I started playing football with Esplais. Then one summer I did a tennis stage. I enjoyed playing tennis so after two years I decided to leave football at the age of eleven and just play tennis. Since that age I practice that sport almost every day. I have won thirty tournaments, I have played two (ITF) international tennis federation in France, and finally in two European tournaments, one in Oviedo (Asturies) and the other one in Avignon (France). In this video I was in Avignon playing with a Japanese player.

My tennis style

I'm tall and like other players I have a good service, it's powerful and fast. My service game it's very important for me because I start the point with advantage. There are many types of service but the most useful is the opens one because if it's good the rival can't attack you.

I also have a good forehand, with it I can finish a lot of points. Normally it's to attack the rival.

My worst shot is backhand so I only use it when I'm defending because it's very difficult to attack, so normally my rivals only put the ball in my backhand zone.

In this point I use my best shots, service and forehand.(video) . Jersy Janowicz. He's an amazing Poland player, he is very young and probably he will be number one. We play very similar. He arrived at the final of Paris. He won Andy Murray and other good players. Like me he is very tall and his best shots are the service and the forehand. Now I will show you a video of him. (video)In that point he served opened and Simon (the rival) only could put the ball into the court. Then Jersy finished the point with an incredible forehand shot.

My objective

Why are there more beautiful shots than others ones? Easy, because they are very difficult and only available for some players.

And that is my objective, do a shot that most of players can do.

Self evaluation

My presentation was bad because my video didn't works. I had some mistakes in my pronunciation and I need to improve my fluency. The structure I think that it wasn't bad. My eye contact was normal. So my mark was 7

Adrian Mole & thirteen

First I will summarise a little bit each story and after that I will give my opinion about them.

• Adrian Mole

Adrian Mole is the main character and he has lived some hard experiences in a short period of time. He was a thirteen years old teenager in the middle of the adolescence. Our main character lived with an "ordinary" family in a modern neighbourhood and he had got a secret diary, like most of the students of his age, where he explained his problems: his parents have divorced (his mother had felt in love with Mr.Lucas) but they didn't are worry about their son, he has had some  spots on his face, he also was worried about his "thing", he has taken care of Bert (an old man from his school), firstly Pandora ignored him absolutely and one guy hit him every day in the school (Barry Kent) until Adrian's mother spoke with him so he stopped. Our main character explained us his thoughts, his indecisions and his intentions. Adrian's parents return together because his mother broke with Mr.Lucas and she left Mr.Lucas' house. Every day he watched himself at the mirror searching new spots and his thing grew few centimetres. Bert met a pretty woman and they fell in love, they married. Adrian achieve Pandora and they were happy until he met another girl and the relationship finished.  He also achieve his perfect present for Christmas, a modern bike. So all his problems has been resolved less Pandora. 

He explained us half year of his interesting live, and he also summarise the meaning of the adolescence and all the changes in our bodies and also in our lives.

I liked it very much because Arian's live isn't quite, I felt a little bit identified on his thoughts. I'm sorry for his family, it's a disaster. I recommended this book at twelve years old students, because it's like their future and their future problems.

• Thirteen

This film describes Tracy's live. She also is a thirteen years old teenager with different problems. She was a good student with his friends and his world until Evie, the most popular girl in the school, entered in her live and there was an incredible change. Firstly Tracy abandoned  her friends and she changed her clothes style. Evie moved to her house, that was the end of the good student. Evie was a really bad role model to Tracy and they went to parties, they stole money, used drugs and had sex with bigger guys than them. Tracy didn't respect her mother at all. Sometimes she cut himself but I don't know why. They went from bad to worst until Tracy's mother decided to advised Evie's mother. Then Evie got angry with her best friend and she prepared a tramp to Tracy. She said that was Tracy the bad role model to her and that she used drugs, cut himself and drank alcohol. After that Tracy live returned to the normally after her experience. 

The film maybe describe some girl's problems and objectives. I think that Tracy & Evie's behaviour isn't normal. Because they only are thirteen years old. They didn't respect any advisement and they did whatever they want. It's a good film I liked it, but I didn't want any daughter like them.

Once upon a time there was a very poor young boy who lived in a quarter in the middle of New York. He had lost his father some years ago in a car accident and since then his mother fell in a deep depression. She couldn't find any good job and so both of them tried to earn money as they could. The little boy went out on the streets every day after school to ask for money to the people who were walking there.

New York is a city with thousands and thousands of faces but there was one that he saw every single day. The young boy had no problems to talk to anyone, but that man was an exception. He just didn't dare to ask him. It wasn't like he was afraid. He only... admired him too much.

Then, one afternoon like all the other ones the man approached. While he was making one step after another, the heart of the little boy beated so fast that he felt that it would jump out of his chest. Eventually, the man stood in front of him. He was a tall middle-aged man. He started to speak: "I've been observing you for a long time. And you know it, you aren't stupid. I know your life is very hard and you have to do your best because you and your mother can survive. I'm afraid, I'm little help to you because I'm very poor too. Today, I haven't earned a single dollar yet." To the man's surprise, the young boy said nothing. He just put his hand in his pocket and took out some coins. "I'm sorry... that's all I have". The young boy gave him the little money he had received that day. After he had realized the boy's kind offer, the man refused and said: "Well, it's not true what I said. It's not that I can't give you anything. Forgive me for lying, but I had to know if you were really worth it." Suddenly, he shouted: "Watch out, behind you!"

The boy turned around and saw nothing but a simple wall. As he tried to respond, the man had already disappeared... "What a strange man..."

The next morning he woke up by the words of a very familiar voice. First, he didn't notice. It was like the most natural thing for him. But when he started to be wide awake and his eyes examined the situation, the tears began to flow like rivers from his eyes. His father didn't know what had happened and he just hugged his son.

If you work hard for you objectives and have a pure heart, the life will award you, like our young boy.

Dear Sonia,

I was born in Figueres, my parents called me "Arià". My grandmother did some baby dresses for me but I couldn't use them because I was too big. I had been living in a flat, near the primary school in Castelló d'Empuriés until I moved to the outside of my town with my family. When I was five I started playing football with the local team (Esplais). We won one regional league and some tournaments. Then one summer I did a tennis stage. I enjoyed playing tennis so after two years I decided to leave football at the age of eleven and just play tennis. Since that age I practise that sport almost every day. I have won thirty tournaments and one recognising from the town hall. Now I can't dedicate the same hours playing tennis because I need more time to do homework. 

I haven't any brothers or sisters. I live in a quite big house with my parents, it has an enormous, peaceful and colourful  garden. The house has three stages, the garage, the "living stage" and the bedrooms in the third flat. My father is an engineer, he works in Girona. He's forty-five years old and his hobby is the gardening. My mother is a sale representative, she sells decoration stuff in a shop near Empuriabrava, her hobby is walking and visiting beautiful places for example Cadaqués. I have a dog called Duc, it's two years old so it's very playful. It's a german shepherd very beautiful. 

I shall be engineer if I can. It's important to have good marks at school. I thing that English it's very important because it's the main language in the world.
